COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

General Design Track

Session 1 (9:15-10:30)  “What’s New in AutoCAD 2012”
Explore the new features and functionality of AutoCAD 2012.  Design and shape the world around you with the powerful, flexible features in AutoCAD® 2012 software, one of the world’s leading 2D and 3D CAD design tools. Maximize your productivity with updated tools for conceptual design, model documentation, and reality capture.

Session 2 (10:45-12:00)The Essentials of Navisworks“
What is Navisworks? How can you use it? In this class we will take a look at Navisworks and how it is being used today in the AEC industry. We will explore the three different versions of Navisworks and which one would be the best fit for you.

Session 3 (1:00-2:15) “Building Information Modeling – Intelligent Collaboration”
What is BIM and how can it benefit your business? Explore the features of BIM within the AutoCAD Software Platform and learn how it is revolutionizing the future of design by allowing you to visualize and plan all aspects of building design before the concrete is ever poured.

Session 4 (2:30-3:45) “The ‘Suite’ Side of Autodesk Design Suites”
Extend the power of the AutoCAD workflow by integrating design and communication software into a single package. This course will explore the features and functionality of the new Autodesk Design Suites and how they can be used to give you a competitive advantage.

Manufacturing / Visualization Track

Session 1 (9:15-10:30) “Keeping Designs Alive”
In this short course we’ll cover the steps for re-using legacy data and bringing the 2D designs into the 3D environment. Inventor enables you to import your drawings directly into the 3D environment and turn those 2 dimensional files into 3D models.

Session 2 (10:45-12:00) “Go With the Flow”
This course will outline and demonstrate the different types of workflow. Which is better? A bottom’s up design, or a top down? We’ll briefly cover both types and you can judge. A bottom’s up design is typically for res-using your 2D data, converting to 3D and assembling. A top down design is where you can add parts from within the assembly.

Session 3 (1:00-2:15) “Tweaking the Assembly”
Yes, it’s real. We will demonstrate how you can explode an assembly model, assign trails and even create a video of how a design is supposed to be assembled. This will clearly convey your design intent, to the people who need to see how it should fit together.

Session 4 (2:30-3:45) “Will it Work”
In this short course we’ll dive into the process of qualifying the digital model without the need for costly prototypes. We will demonstrate how to apply loads and discover if there are areas of concern within the model. We will also demonstrate how to detect a collision and find the smallest of interference fits within the model.

Civil Track

Session 1 (9:15-10:30) “Survey the Field to Finish”
Take advantage of AutoCAD Civil 3D's Survey tool and use the data collected to automatically create useable Civil 3D data. In this class, we will take a real world ASCII file and import it using the AutoCAD Civil 3D Survey database but also look at how to automate the linework, establishing of point groups, and automation of symbols all from a regular ASCII file.

Session 2 (10:45-12:00) “Intersection Objects – not just for Intersections”
Intersection objects contain many different parameter settings. We will walk through and create an intersection object and see how to use this with an existing corridor. Also, we will see how we can use the intersection object to JUST create links between different alignment and profile objects.

Session 3 (1:00-2:15) “Blade it! – Grading Tips and Techniques in Civil 3D”
Learn different grading techniques and tips for grading a site. We will take a commercial site and walkthrough using the grading features of Civil 3D and build a finished surface.

Session 4 (2:30-3:45) “Using Autodesk's Subassembly Composer”
With AutoCAD Civil 3D, they provide literally hundreds of subassemblies for just about any situation…just about. If you needed a custom subassembly, you used to need to know .Net programming to build one. Now, with Autodesk's new Subassembly Composer application, you can build your own customized subassemblies. In this class, we will create a custom subassembly using the new Autodesk Subassembly Composer and in the process show you how to create your own.

Architecture Track

Session 1 (9:15-10:30) “Revit Design Options and Phasing”
Design Options feature gives you a flexible way to create, manage, and present your design proposals. In this session, we’ll explore Option Sets and Options for presenting various proposals to your client. Each option behaves independently from the others, fully managing both the graphics and the quantities reported on schedules. Because many projects include renovations and demolition of existing structures, we’ll also cover the Phasing tools in Revit. Using the built-in facilities of Revit, we can easily manage the class

Session 2 (10:45-12:00)Revit Structures – RAM Tough”
In this class, we will explore the Bentley RAM/Revit Link for Revit Structure, with particular emphasis on using the extensions to be productive in the design and analysis of steel framing. We will start with an overview of the RAM/Revit Link and how it works with the Revit Structure analytical model. Next, we will review the link options and functions of the RAM/Revit Link. Last, we will explore a couple work flows with some live demonstration  of the link to RAM Structural System by using the RAM/Revit Link.

Session 3 (1:00-2:15) “Revit Extensions”
As an Autodesk Subscription Customer you have access to the Revit extensions. In this session we’ll explore what extensions are available to you as a subscription customer. We will also take a deeper look into a few of the more commonly used extensions and how they can benefit you and your company.

Session 4 (2:30-3:45)  “Can’t Find That Family?”
Can’t find that family? In this session we’ll explore creating families from scratch including parametric modeling, family parameters and family types. The next time you can’t find that family, you can just make it!
